Ian’s Birthday
September 24, 2007
Saturday was Ian’s 40th birthday party and some of us spent the afternoon punting along the Cherwell to the Victoria Arms on the bank of the river. Sophie loved it and wants to go on the river again soon! It’s about 6 years since I attempted to punt, in Cambridge, so it took us ages to get the single mile (if that) to the pub … a drink well deserved!
Anne was in charge for the return journey and despite having never done it before, was a natural! Luckily the rain stayed away, despite grey clouds for most of the way.
Evening saw everyone meet at The Honey Pot in Oxford, newly refurbished and hired out just for us for the night! It was a great evening but I discovered that it actually IS possible to drink too many White Russians (well done to the speccy barman though!) and paid the price the next day.
Before there was any chance of a hangover setting in, it was back to Ian and Melissa’s house for more drinking, dancing and some impromptu gymnastics from Jo. Suddenly it’s 5am and time to find a taxi to take us home.
There’s quite a lot of photos on Flickr.
